“Antares”

The boat shown on this page is Antares – the boat that disappeared along with my father in August 1981. He spend several months reparing it and also sailing around in the Carabbian Sea. My father was a skilled carpenter.

"Antares". Owned jointly by my father and Mrs. Kim Goodwin.

According to a local historian in Key West it was not uncommon at the time that a boat like this was overtaken by brute force. Criminals would use it either for smuggling people out of Cuba or smuggling narcotics. Please correct me if I am wrong about this. Anyway, if you think you have recognized Antares, please contact me.

Facts about Antares:

Antares was a 57 feet long sailing-boat. It was a so called “ketch” with two masts; a main mast and a shorter mizzen mast abaft (rearward of) the main mast.

My father working on the boat. Is this in Key West and do you know my father, Gerald Douglas Oxby?
